Rhana and Makita

Rhana is a highly gifted animal trainer and behaviourist, specialising in horses and dogs.  She recently volunteered to be our NSW contact, a woman with a high achievement award by us after doing our assessments and sitting our examinations of competency.

We are honoured to have this highly qualified woman on our team, as she will be available for NSW based enquiries.

The very image of a Guide or Assistance dog is such an attraction to many people, even as I prepare this site, I am still awe struck by the very dogs that I have personally trained.  Pictured here is a true legend - "Goldie" - a three year old kennel breeder when I got her called Heather.  She was a 'Rattle Head', jumping onto the kitchen bench the day after we had her, stealing two Rump Steaks, A walking stomach.  She became an Assistance Dog in 6 Months - taken by Cancer in '04.

Can I Train My Own Assistance Dog

You can, in most instances, train your own Assistance Dog.  A few people cannot seem to 'grasp' the concepts, but these people are in the minority.  Training your own Assistance Dog does however take huge commitment, as the courses are demanding, as they should be, you are training another version of a "Sight Impairment Assistance Dog", or put simply - an Assistance Dog.

How Long Will It All Take - How Much Does It Cost

As an average, putting in an hour or so every day, doing the assignments, it could take as little as six months, some have taken 18 months, others over 2 years.  The costs are very small now that I have published this on the internet - each assignment can be emailed, costing a tiny $25.00 for each assignment - possibly two hundred dollars in all if you train all the way to Grade Five International (The Highest Grading), also qualifying you as an Assistance Dog Trainer - everything on this site is FREE!  Only the assignments cost $25.00 each, little more than a MacDonald's Meal!
